We encourage students to eat healthy snacks while at school, and we provide time for this purpose so that we may reinforce the principles of good nutrition.
We hope everyone had a terrific summer. We are more than excited to teach your children this year. We also look forward to getting to know all of our families and ensuring that Sarah Thompson is the best possible school we can make it. We endeavour to ensure a safe and caring environment, while maintaining high expectations for a learning environment that is engaging and purposeful for all students.
We strive to create an environment where we succeed in our mission to "nurture relationships, agency, belonging, and inclusion to cultivate academic success and personal wellness for everyone.
Please feel free to contact any of us during the school day by email through the thompson.rockyview.ab.ca website or call 403-936-6141.
Kindest regards,
Ryan Siemens and Chris Sidorenko - Administrative Team at STS
Sarah Thompson Vision
At Sarah Thompson School we nurture relationships, agency, belonging and inclusion to cultivate academic success, and personal wellness for everyone.
We believe that "it takes a village to raise a child". We are a community school. When you look at our logo, you'll see a few interesting pieces that when put together stands for our belief that to create an optimal learning environment for our students, we must have a partnership between students, home and school.
The blue area on either side represent students. If you look carefully, they also resemble the letter "S"
In the middle is our schoolhouse. This is an homage to the pioneer/teacher Sarah Thompson, who worked in a one-room schoolhouse in 1892. It also is meant to represent the central place in a community that is a public school. Where the door is, it resembles the letter "T"
On the top, there is a circle and a long triangle. This is meant to represent a teacher with her arms extended to reach the students on either side.
When put it together, you have the Sarah Thompson Logo.
]]>Volunteers play a very important role in helping us to provide a quality education for all students. Moms, dads, and grandparents are certainly welcome. Volunteers may be asked to prepare classroom materials, read with students, prepare bulletin boards, photocopy materials, serve hot lunches, help in the library, accompany students on field trips etc.
As far as we are concerned, Volunteers are #1!
A Confidentiality Form and Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed. We are happy to provide a letter to present to RCMP for this service. You can get one from the office.
Parents are always welcome in our growing school.
However, are you aware that we have this helpful rule?
If you want to observe the class or meet to discuss and look,
If you want to see your child or drop off a book;
Then please check in to the office first to see if we are free.
Drop off books and lunches there and, if possible, wait for me.
Or phone me first to set a time when we can freely chat.
We thank you for your consideration. We really appreciate that!
