Welcome to Grade 3
Here are a few things that will help make the first few days run more smoothly for your child.
First of all, there are NO MICROWAVES, so please do not send in a lunch that needs to be heated up.
Pack It In – Pack It Out
As we are a LEED school, we are consciously aware of our actions and how it affects the environment. Sarah Thompson is taking part in a Pack It In-Pack It Out program, which asks our students to try and pack “waste-less” lunches opting for reusable containers and utensils as opposed to disposables such as plastic bags, foil, and prepackaged items. Excess packaging is not to be thrown out into school garbage or recycling. Everything a student packs into his/her lunch that is not eaten will be expected to go home.
Please remember our two-shoe policy and ensure your child has a pair of both indoor/outdoor shoes.
If possible, ensure your child has a backpack and a lunch kit. If possible, it would be greatly appreaciated if you could send in a box of kleenex, lysol wipes and a set of headphones for your child. Other supplies are provided at school including paper, journals, pencils, crayons, markers, glue, scissors, rulers, etc. PLEASE DO NOT SEND SCHOOL SUPPLIES WITH YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL. We run a classroom economy which includes replenishing our supplies to encourage responsibility and ownership of the tools students use at school.
Please note that we do have agendas this year. Students will be utilizing the agenda to carry important notices, etc. between home and school. If a "note" is sent in, please ensure your child communicates this will me so it doesn't get missed. Also, feel free to email: kmackie@rockyview.ab.ca or call the school 403 936-6141. Pertinent class information will be on the website, google classroom or will be emailed directly to parents.
Looking forward to a great year!
